Hargis Periosteal Elevator — Overview

The Hargis Periosteal Elevator (S27-177-00 family) is available in two widths (6.5mm and 9mm), each in curved-left and curved-right configurations, part of the Hargis maxillofacial instrument system used to separate periosteum from bone ahead of mandibular osteotomy and other maxillofacial bone procedures.

Curved Left and Right, Two Widths

Offering both curved-left and curved-right versions at each width lets the surgeon match the elevator's curvature to the specific side and contour being worked on, following the bone surface more closely than a single straight or uniformly curved design could manage across both sides of the mandible or midface.

Clinical Use

This elevator is used in orthognathic and mandibular surgery, complementing the anterior border stripper and other Hargis instruments in this family, for periosteal elevation ahead of osteotomy or bone exposure.

Material and Construction

Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel and hand-finished in Sialkot, Pakistan, with smoothly finished working edges at both widths and curvature options.

Sterilization and Care

Fully autoclavable across all configurations. The working edges should be inspected before each use for nicks or burrs.
