The Miller-Colburn Bone File (S27-202-01) is a double-ended straight-cut bone file with 8mm and 5mm working ends, used to smooth rough or irregular bone edges after cutting, drilling, or osteotomy in maxillofacial surgery.
After a bone has been cut with an osteotome, saw, or rongeur, the resulting edge is often rough or irregular. A bone file smooths this edge through a filing action, distinct from the cutting action of an osteotome or the biting action of a rongeur, producing a cleaner, smoother bone surface that reduces the risk of the rough edge irritating surrounding soft tissue during healing.
Having both a 5mm and an 8mm working end on a single instrument lets the surgeon switch between a finer, more precise filing surface and a broader one without changing instruments — useful when addressing both fine detail work and larger bone surfaces within the same procedure.
This bone file is used throughout maxillofacial surgery following osteotomy, fracture repair, or any bone-cutting step, to smooth and finish the resulting bone edge.
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel and hand-finished in Sialkot, Pakistan, with precisely cut filing teeth at both working ends.
Fully autoclavable. The filing surfaces should be checked for clogged bone debris during cleaning and for tooth wear during routine inspection.
The Miller-Colburn Bone File, Double Ended, SKU S27-202-01, is supplied by Scatter Instruments to hospitals, surgery centers, and distributors internationally, with bulk pricing and OEM or private-label branding available on request.
