The Obwegeser Mandibular Periosteal J-Stripper (S27-125-00 family) is a 20cm periosteal stripping instrument available in 5.0mm, 7.0mm, and 9.0mm widths, distinguished by a J-shaped working end designed to strip periosteum from specific curved mandibular surfaces that a straight elevator cannot reach as effectively.

J-Shaped Working End

The J-shape gives this stripper a hooked profile at the working end, allowing it to engage and strip periosteum from around curved bony surfaces or the underside of bony prominences along the mandible — areas where a straight periosteal elevator's flat working edge would have difficulty maintaining consistent contact with the bone-periosteum interface.

Three Widths

The 5.0mm width suits finer, more precise stripping in confined areas; 7.0mm and 9.0mm cover broader periosteal stripping needs along the mandibular surface.

Clinical Use

This instrument is used in orthognathic mandibular surgery, particularly sagittal split ramus osteotomy, for periosteal stripping along curved or hard-to-reach mandibular surfaces as part of the Obwegeser surgical technique.
