The Lieberman Triple Post Speculum (S1-560-74) is a distinctive nasal-approach eyelid retractor with an 8.2cm overall length and a 16mm open wire blade featuring a 1mm-wide center post — a three-point contact design rather than the simple two-blade arrangement of most self-retaining specula.

Triple Post Design

Where a standard speculum retracts the lid margin with a single continuous blade per arm, the triple post design adds a narrow (1mm) center post to each blade, creating three points of contact rather than two continuous edges. This can offer more stable, evenly distributed retraction across the width of the blade, particularly useful in procedures where the surgeon wants to minimize the risk of the lid slipping off a single continuous edge during more vigorous instrument manipulation.

16mm Open Wire Blade

The base blade size is 16mm, on the wider end of the general range, combined with the open wire construction for a low-mass, gentler contact profile than a solid blade equivalent would provide at the same width.

Clinical Use
