The Maumenee-Park Eye Speculum with a fenestrated blade and canthus hook (SA-790-69) is a substantial 15mm eyelid retractor that integrates a canthus hook directly into the frame, combining lid retraction with lateral canthal stabilization in a single instrument.

Fenestrated Blade with Canthus Hook

The perforated (fenestrated) blade reduces contact area and allows fluid to pass through rather than pooling against the blade during irrigation-heavy procedures, while the integrated canthus hook provides a dedicated point of lateral canthal traction — useful in procedures where the surgeon needs to stabilize or slightly evert the lateral canthus in addition to standard lid retraction, without introducing a separate hook instrument into the field.

Clinical Use

This speculum is used in more complex anterior segment and oculoplastic procedures where lateral canthal control is part of the surgical technique — certain glaucoma procedures, complex cataract cases, and oculoplastic surgery near the lateral canthus — and where the surgeon wants fluid management from the fenestrated blade design as well.
