Olivieri-Cantera Lid Speculum, Nasal Approach — Overview

The Olivieri-Cantera Lid Speculum (SA-800-83) is a 15mm solid blade eyelid retractor with notches built into the blades, combining firm, stable solid-blade retraction with a dedicated suture or fixation anchor point, similar in concept to the Netland-Lieberman and Grandon-Barraquer designs but on a solid, rather than wire, blade.

Solid Blade With Notches

The notched solid blade gives surgeons the firm, unwavering retraction of a solid blade design along with a built-in anchor point for traction sutures, useful in procedures combining standard lid retraction with additional suture-based fixation, without needing to add a separate clamp or hook to the field.

Clinical Use

This speculum is used in cataract, anterior segment, and oculoplastic procedures where the surgeon wants solid-blade retraction stability combined with an integrated suture fixation point.

Material and Construction

Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel and hand-finished in Sialkot, Pakistan, with the notches machined into the solid blades.

Sterilization and Care

Fully autoclavable. The notches should be checked for debris during cleaning, alongside standard blade edge and spring tension checks.
