Thorton Lid Speculum, Nasal Approach — Overview

The Thorton Lid Speculum, Nasal Approach (S1-500-60) is a 15mm open wire blade retractor with 16mm lifting wings and a 24mm blade spread, combining wide open-wire exposure with the lifting-wing convenience feature seen on the Floyd-Barraquer and Kratz-Barraquer wing designs elsewhere in this range.

The lifting wings, sized at 16mm, give the surgeon a dedicated grip point for lifting, tilting, or repositioning the speculum mid-procedure without regrasping the spring body directly — the same functional benefit offered by the wing feature on other designs in this range, here paired with a 15mm open wire blade.
