Wiener Lid Speculum, Nasal Approach — Overview

The Wiener Lid Speculum, Nasal Approach (SA-800-22) is a 15mm fenestrated-blade retractor with a 30mm blade spread, offering the fluid-permeable benefits of a perforated blade design at a general adult exposure size.

15mm Fenestrated Blade

The perforated blade design reduces solid contact area against the lid margin and allows fluid to pass through rather than pooling against the blade, useful in procedures with significant irrigation where fluid management affects both visualization and patient comfort — a standard general-purpose application of the fenestrated blade principle also seen in the larger Guyton-Park and Maumenee-Park designs in this range.

30mm Spread

The 30mm blade spread provides a moderately wide working aperture, suited to routine anterior segment and cataract procedures needing more than minimal exposure.

Clinical Use

This speculum is used in general cataract and anterior segment surgery with moderate-to-significant irrigation, where the surgeon wants the fluid management benefit of a fenestrated blade without the added features (canthus hook, suture post) of the larger specialized fenestrated designs in this range.

Material and Construction

Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel and hand-finished in Sialkot, Pakistan, to the corrosion-resistant, precisely tensioned standard expected of a self-retaining eyelid retractor.

Sterilization and Care

Fully autoclavable. The fenestrations should be checked for debris during cleaning, alongside standard blade and spring tension checks.
