Overview

Scleral depressors gently indent the sclera so the peripheral retina can be seen during indirect ophthalmoscopy and retinal surgery. We manufacture the established patterns — Josephberg-Besser (single and double ended), Schocket, Schepens, O'Connor double ended, Flynn lens loop and Urrets-Zavalia — together with the Gass scleral marker. Each is hand-finished for a smooth, atraumatic tip.

Buying Guide

How to choose a scleral depressor: • Single or double ended — double-ended patterns carry two tip sizes on one instrument. • Pattern — Josephberg-Besser and Schocket suit routine examination; Schepens is the traditional thimble style. • Combination instruments — the Urrets-Zavalia combines a depressor with a fixation pick.

Category FAQ

What is a scleral depressor used for?

A scleral depressor gently presses on the sclera so the far periphery of the retina comes into view during indirect ophthalmoscopy or retinal surgery.

What is the difference between single and double ended scleral depressors?

A double-ended depressor has a different tip size at each end, so one instrument covers two tip sizes; a single-ended depressor has one tip and a handle.

Where can I buy a scleral depressor?

Directly from us as the manufacturer. Every pattern in this range can be ordered online from a single piece and shipped worldwide; hospitals and distributors can ask for bulk or private label pricing.

Is there a scleral depressor for pediatric exams?

For children and infants examiners usually choose a small, smooth tip. Our smallest patterns are the Schepens thimble in the small 8mm size and the 10.5cm Josephberg-Besser single ended, and smaller custom tips can be quoted on request.

What is the minimum order quantity?

For standard instruments the minimum order is one piece. Special or custom items are quoted case by case.

How long does delivery take?

In-stock orders are dispatched within 4 working days. Made-to-order and bulk quantities typically take 1–4 weeks of production before dispatch.

Do you offer private label (OEM / own brand) manufacturing?

Yes. As an OEM manufacturer in Sialkot we produce instruments under your brand name for distributors and hospital suppliers. See our private label page or request a quote.
